The iPhone XS and the iPhone XR are the very first iPhone to support dual simulation via an eSIM. This means that you can be contacted at two phone numbers at the same time. But what about WhatsApp? Bad news. It's always impossible.
On Android, WhatsApp supports two accounts on the same phone for quite some time. Indeed, Google's operating system applications can easily be duplicated. However, the operating system of the iPhone does not have comparable functions. The structure of the application and sandbox does not allow multiple copies of the same application.
WhatsApp on iPhone: no double simulation
The principle of the chat application is always a number per device. In an FAQ on the WhatsApp website, we read: "Your account can only be verified with one number on a single device. If you have a dual sim phone, you must choose the phone number that you want. you authenticate with WhatsApp There is no way to have an account for both numbers. "
It remains to be seen if support for dual simulation is possible. Apple has to do a lot of work for that. An API must be made available to developers to enable them to interact with two phone numbers on an iPhone. Currently, this possibility does not exist at all.
Account stuck when changed too frequently
Under iOS, WhatsApp basically searches for the phone number set as the primary number. This can be both the physical SIM card and eSIM. It is not recommended to change frequently because your account may be blocked. From the Chat Application FAQ: "If you frequently change WhatsApp accounts between different devices, you may not be able to authenticate at a particular time, so do not repeatedly switch between different devices and phone numbers.
