"An environmentally friendly image is decisive"
Despite rising costs, the popularity of electric cars will only increase in the years to come. That said, Istvan Kapitany, head of Shell, responsible for Shell's service stations and service stations.
Currently, charging a battery is more expensive than refueling. According to Kapitany, however, it is not the fuel bill that counts, but the ecological image of electric cars is decisive for the choice of electric vehicles. "People do not always make rational choices, otherwise it would be very difficult to sell sports cars," Kapitany said. "Many people are passionate about technology."
Shell, which is still largely active in fossil fuels, has been taking action on the electrical driving market in recent years. The oil and gas company launched last year a joint venture for charging stations with automakers BMW, Daimler, Ford and Volkswagen. Previously, the company had purchased NewMotion, which has a network of tens of thousands of charging stations for electric vehicles in Europe.
