Jope says it's a huge privilege to be at the helm of Unilever. He has been working for the multinational food and detergent for over 30 years and since 2014 heads the largest department of Unilever, the Department of Beauty and Personal Care.
The new CEO must find a solution to the problem of the seat. Unilever had previously indicated that he still wanted to return to a seat, but it is unclear where this office will be located.
Polman will continue to resign as General Manager for another semester to facilitate the transition. He leaves the company in early July.
