Hackers Enter 30,000 Home RTL Accounts

According to the commercial broadcaster, no payment data was stolen. Hackers could access private data from RTL service users such as Videoland, Buienradar and RTL Nieuws. They used e-mail addresses and passwords that they had previously obtained in hackers from LinkedIn, Dropbox and eBay. Because many people still use the previously disclosed credentials, hackers have access to RTL accounts.

Insufficient security

RTL was not adequately protected against these attacks. The media company reported the leak to the Dutch Data Protection Authority and informed all concerned users.
