The new CEO of Air France-KLM, Ben Smith, would like to leave the Air France subsidiary, Joon, writes the French newspaper Le Figaro Thursday
The Air France budget subsidiary was founded in the summer of 2017 under the leadership of former President Jean-Marc Janaillac and started the first flights at the end of the year 2005.
The company wanted to focus on a younger target group and had to compete with other airlines than Air because of lower production costs. France
According to Le Figaro the new CEO of Air France-KLM sees no future in Joon's business model. Smith would like to do more with the Air France brand because the capabilities of this company are still underutilized.
Joon uses pilots, ground staff and Air France planes, but the cabin crew has its own collective agreement.
Joon currently operates both flights in Europe and international flights. The airline serves destinations also served by Air France. In addition, Joon has taken over some of Air France's parent companies over the past year.
If Air France-KLM actually stops at Joon, this can have consequences for the staff. According to the French newspaper, there could be a takeover of staff by Air France.
