The number of young people under 25 will decrease by 100,000 Interior

At the end of 2017, 228,000 minors lived in a social security family in the Netherlands. That's almost 7% of all minors. This number has declined for the first time since 2009: last year, there were almost 3,000 fewer than in 2016.

A growing number of children have lived with only one parent since birth, continues the report. Last year, they were 15,000.

Increase in Youth Assistance

The number of youth benefiting from youth assistance increased between 2015 and 2017, mainly because neighborhood teams and neighborhood municipalities began to work with more young people: 82,000 young people, there were still 37,000 in 2015.
