A pilot wanted to take off from London Heathrow, while his concentration of alcohol was nine times higher. He now has ten months to go to jail
Katsutoshi Jitsukawa, 42, was arrested at the airport after failing a breath test. It was 50 minutes before he left for Tokyo with Japan Airlines flight JL44
. Judge Phillip Matthews describes the co-pilot as "very drunk" before his flight on October 28th. "You are an experienced driver, but you obviously had drunk for a long time until you had to leave," the judge said. "The most important thing is the safety of all passengers on board for this long-haul flight of up to twelve hours or more," he continues. "Their drunkenness has jeopardized their safety."
"It's too bad to think you took control of this plane, and the potential consequences for those on board were catastrophic," it seems to conclude.
