Fourteen soldiers between the ages of 16 and 18 were injured Wednesday morning by lightning at a military training ground in Ossendrecht.
One person was seriously injured. He was rushed to hospital with the trauma helicopter.
The other students were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
After Omroep Brabant lightning occurred around 8:30 am. The teenagers participated in the VeVa (Safety & Craftsmanship) training, a pre-training training allowing them to enter the Woensdrecht Air Base.
They were surprised by lightning during exercise. In major areas of the country, Wednesday, the yellow code applies to lightning and hail.
