The fatal accident in South Africa with a historic aircraft from the Dutch Aviodrome aviation museum was filmed by one of the occupants. The images show that the left engine is on fire and that the aircraft is rapidly losing altitude.
"It's going to go wrong." That's completely wrong, "says one of the passengers. Moments later, we can hear that the plane crashes. The picture becomes black.
Two people were killed in the accident with the Convair 340 of 1954. One of them was in the plane, the other was present in the building against which plane crashed.
The Dutch were slightly injured
Three Dutch employees of Aviodrome who were in the plane were slightly injured. The Netherlands will be exposed, but that will not happen anymore. According to an Aviodrome spokesman, the plane can not be repaired.
The Convair 340 was donated to Aviodrome by the South African owner, Rovos Rail. After the necessary technical work, the historic aircraft would fly directly across Africa and Europe to Aviodrome at Lelystad airport this summer
