In Uganda, a hunted elephant killed an 8-year-old boy. According to the Daily Monitor newspaper, the animal caught the pupil with his trunk and hit his head against the ground

The elephant had entered a nearby village north of the Murchison Falls Nature Park. Angry residents tried to scare the animal by shouting and throwing stones. The boy killed was on his way to school with five other children when he came across the fugitive elephant's path.

Natural parks in Uganda are generally not covered with fences or walls. As a result, wild animals regularly collide with local residents who want to protect their livestock, for example. Ugandan authorities do not call people to provoke wild animals

Many villages are already digging trenches to prevent elephants from entering populated areas just as they are searching for food. After the death of the boy, he is called to seek alternative measures. "The elephant-human conflict sooner or later becomes out of reach if nothing is done," says a local politician.
