Aviodome on A5 must go by name

AMSTERDAM

The Aviodome event complex located along the A5 in Amsterdam, which will open at the end of January, will have to be replaced by a court order. This was determined during an interlocutory procedure pitting event organizers TeKa Groep and Libema. After the decision, the name was immediately changed to Amsterdome.

Aviodome was called the Schiphol Dome where, from 1966 to 2013, the National Museum of Aviation was hosted. According to Libema, the name of the museum was kept at Lelystad airport under the name of Aviodrome (without a dome and with an extra letter r), but the names seem too similar. It would cause confusion. The judge accepted it.

The iconic dome was rebuilt along the A5 with the original materials. According to the TeKa group, Amsterdome will host venues, conferences and other events. The geodesic dome, with twenty hexagons and twelve pentagons, looks very much like a football. But then a very big: it measures 24 meters high and has a range of 60 meters. This is a drawing of the American Richard Buckminster Fuller (1895-1983).
