It's more about imposing something on your customers and imposing things that no one was asking for.
There is no listening, not at EA, Ubisoft, Activision and now, Blizzard does it too.
Why would you swallow everything they do? Blizzard has always been synonymous with quality now, I still think 3 times after buying a Blizzard game. So now I am boycotting EA and, to a greater extent, Ubisoft and Activision. They do not have to listen at all? If they do not do things you do not like, you do not have to buy them.
The community tells exactly what it needs or wants. If you ignore it or if you do not recognize it, you, as a customer, can be very angry because you already have so many times in the niche aAa a dagger in the back. They have absolutely no obligation to the community. I do not quite understand where it comes from the idea that they have obligations towards the "fans". Yes, it would be nice if they listen, but it is not really necessary.
Also, there are a number of shouts, but I'm curious if the game is sold 10 million times after all, apparently there was always a demand for it? So it's still not what you or your part of the community would have liked to see, but for a seemingly much larger group, a real success.
