Six-in-line and rear-wheel drive
Toyota recently announced that it would show more of the new Supra at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Now the brand also publishes more information about the car.
Last week, Toyota already showed a photo on Twitter that the brand announced the arrival of the new Supra at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Toyota is now reporting that during the event, which will take place from July 12 to 15 at the English West Sussex Estate, we will indeed meet a prototype of the new Supra. It is also interesting that Toyota publishes the first information on the powertrain.
Toyota reveals that the new Supra, how could it be otherwise, becomes a rear-wheel drive. The brand further reports that its new sportsman, developed with BMW, also has a six-in-line, power source that probably comes from BMW's known engines in this configuration. In October 2019, the new Supra must be found at Dutch dealers, which will take some time.
The new Supra went up the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed by chief engineer Tetsuya Tada and pilot Herwig Daenis. Since the disappearance of the last generation Supra in 2002, there have been some noises about the return of the model. In 2007 it's Toyota itself that gave the FT-HS Concept a taste of a new sports coupe, which will be marketed in 2009. However, it's never come. In 2014, Toyota pushed the FT-1 forward, once again forerunner of a coupe. The arrival of the car has been confirmed and with the GR Supra Racing Concept Toyota has shown a final preview of the model in Geneva this year.
