California dead forest fire increased to 56 now

The record of forest fires in northern California has risen to 56. At least 130 people are still missing. Emergency services are still looking for the victims of the deadliest fire ever recorded in California.

The fire destroyed nearly 9,000 homes, authorities announced at a press conference Wednesday night.

More than five thousand firefighters have been deployed. About 35% of the area where the fire is raging is now under control. The authorities say that "progress is being made".

More than 52,000 people were evacuated and more than a thousand people were housed in shelters. Most of the dead have fallen in the devastated city of paradise. Before the fire, the city had 27,000 inhabitants.

Most of the missing persons are over 65 years old. First, the list of missing persons numbered 230 people.
