CDA agrees and wants to reorganize the airspace for the opening of Lelystad airport

All political groups agreed at the CDA national conference: Clarity is needed before Lelystad airport can be opened. The party wants to reorganize the airspace by 2023 at the latest, and the low-flying routes must have been removed.

The parties agreed despite a "thorough debate". "There are contradictions between the different factions, which Gelder and Overijssel want a reclassification, while Flevoland fears that the opening of Lelystad airport is at stake," says Bart van Moorsel, member of Overijssel.

The ChristenUnie has already spoken against the use of low-flying routes, D66 is also critical. Due to the position taken by the CDA, the VVD is the only cabinet party that Lelystad airport wants to open before the end of the airspace review.

Local Groups

The ACD adopted this position regarding the Lelystad Airport after a resolution submitted. It was an initiative of the local CDA party in Gelderse Hattem. They are supported, among others, by the political groups of Heerde, Oldebroek, Elburg, Epe Olst-Wijhe, Zwolle, Apeldoorn, Deventer and Dalfsen. CDA Overijssel, Gelderland and Drenthe also support the proposal.

Low-Level Routes

The only way to fly with charter flights at Lelystad Airport in the present configuration of airspace is low approach lanes. Indeed, airplanes bound for Lelystad are not allowed to hinder air traffic to Schiphol.

In practice, large planes to and from the airport of the polders would be obliged to fly at low altitude over long distances, with all the risks and inconveniences that would entail. . If the minister can not use the low-level air routes in her decisions, the big aircraft can not land and take off from Lelystad airport.
