Magical Fantasy World
The promises with which Toverland has drawn us to Limburg are not wrong. A new 40-meter high roller coaster, a water attraction, an Avalon theme area and a new entrance, Port Laguna, were on the park's wish list. A big expense because this investment costs no less than 35 million euros in Toverland. Imagine your imagination at the gates of Port Laguna you leave the Netherlands and you enter the magical world of Toverland, that's the thought. We have to honestly confess we have succeeded! All sorts of magical figures are waiting for us, like pirate-style harbor guards, magisterial marauders who live in Port Laguna and of course assistant Merlin, but what does Port Laguna look like?
Port Laguna
Once in Port Laguna, you will find a beach, a shallow lagoon, magical buildings and an outdoor scene. In the background, a music creates a relaxed atmosphere; we hear summer noises, waving water and seagulls. It sounds a bit like being on vacation in an idyllic harbor town and the magic of Toverland immediately begins to work on us. Fun fact: the musical set was specially composed Toverland by the German company IMAscore, which has already made music for Toverland, but also for Phantasialand, Movie Park Germany and Walibi Belgium. In Port Laguna, there is a boulevard, which is built around the horseshoe-shaped lagoon. Here you will find shops, restaurants and the Magic show. The idea of the boulevard is fun, but there is not enough to live (yet). In our corner of the eye, we spotted Fenix roller coaster, and we want to go! Fortunately, Port Laguna can count on a magical future: parades, fireworks and even a four-star hotel are planned here.
Avalon: Two New Attractions
The real attractions of the new Toverland are the Fenix submarines and the Merlin Maritime Attraction & # 39; s Quest The first is a roller coaster where seats are suspended from two sides of the rails. This giant does not go less than three times, winds under bridges and you are almost in the water. All this with a speed of 95 km / h after a free fall of 40 meters high. By way of comparison, the only upper roller coaster in the Netherlands is the Walibi Goliath, which is six meters higher. Unfortunately, the roller coaster ran into a software problem right after the opening and we were able to test it only once, later in the day. Fortunately, Toverland has not promised too much: the roller coasters are exciting but not too scary, do not make you feel nauseous and are worth a long line! On the other hand, Merlin's Quest is a little disappointing. You sail in the waters of Avalon in twelve minutes. Along the way, you'll cross Darkrid's four sections with Merlin's magician's library, moving fairies, mermaids and lots of fog. The story of the attraction, as you go in search of the eternal youth source with the magician Merlin, escapes you a bit and in addition to darkrid sections the cruise is rather boring.

Six Magical Thematic Areas
Merlin & # 39; s Quest and Fenix are in Avalon, the second new area thematic of Toverland. Avalon is the mysterious world of the all-powerful magician Merlin, where the mythical sword Excalibur is stuck in a stone (try to remove the sword from the stone, nice for the pictures). The story behind Avalon, with assistant Merlin and his ally, the fiery bird Fenix (yes, the roller coaster represent a bird), also comes out of the picture here. A fantastic decor and virtually no unnecessary visible construction assures you that you really feel like in a fairy tale world! The two new themes fit well with the four exciting themes that Toverland already had. The decoration is also commendable in these thematic areas. For example, marvelous actors and machines attract the Blitz Bahn bobsleigh track and stand next to the Troy wooden roller coaster (the longest, fastest and highest wooden roller coaster of the world) a huge wooden horse:
We did not like:
- For some attractions, you line up for almost an hour, without being entertained or without knowing how long you have to wait. It's better for a magical park!
- The story behind the attraction of Merlin's boats Quest does not really stand out. In any case, we have totally missed the source of eternal youth. It would be nice if the story begins at the sailing area before the Dark Run
- In the Magic show, the Magistralis family will conjure with you, is the promise. But more than what you read proverbs and waving your finger, you do not actually do it. Too bad, this show could have been much more interactive.
