De Graafschap's coach, Henk de Jong, could have traded De Superboeren against a foreign club during the winter break, he reveals during a conversation with the Gelderlander. The successful Frisian coach has always stayed at De Vijverberg.

The offer of the undisclosed foreign club was more than attractive, said De Jong. "I could win four times more in this club than at De Graafschap." Drachtenaar, 54, however, decided to remain loyal to the Achterhoekers. "At that moment, we were at the bottom of the ladder and I did not think I could get out of it, so I could never sleep, I will not let that club down."

De Jong's contract expires. this season, but the coach and his assistant Sandor van der Heide seem to draw soon. According to Gelderlander the first formal discussions have not yet begun, but it is "a matter of time" before the white smoke hovers over De Vijverberg. "If I'm not looking forward to De Graafschap, no, you're crazy, I work in one of the most beautiful clubs in the Netherlands," says the coach, who fears no degradation possible. "I will not move away from that, and then we will continue to build."
