It has been raining hard in Japan for more than a week. This rain causes severe flooding and landslides.
More than two million people have been evacuated from the most affected areas. Several cities in the region are barely accessible because of the high seas or have been partially destroyed by landslides. For example, in Hiroshima, much of a neighborhood was destroyed
In the city of Kurashiki, the water was always so high that people could not go up and down the street in the big buildings or at the top of their homes
seems to be over, but weather forecasts indicate that there is a heat wave in the worst-hit area. There are 12,700 people cut off and nobody has running water.
Rescuers continue to work hard to help the millions of people who have had to leave their homes and make the affected areas accessible again as quickly as possible.
