The Harderwijk Dolphinarium writes black figures for the first time in five years. "We can conclude with a small profit in 2018. I am expecting a glorious future for the park," said director Bert van de Hoef. He does not want to mention the exact figures.
This weekend, the Dolfinarium will close the summer season, reports Omroep Gelderland.
Since 2014, the Dolfinarium is downright bad. Then, a loss of 1.2 million euros was recorded. In 2015, the loss was nearly 4 million euros. Last year, the amusement park was declared "technically bankrupt", resulting in the loss of another million people.
The parent company, Aspro Parks, was rescued with lifeguards. The tide seems to be reversed. The Dolfinarium has undergone significant cuts and dismissed dozens of employees. More than a hundred people are working now.
Last summer, a new attraction was opened for the first time in twenty years: Water Fun. It is a water park with play equipment and slides. According to Loopings magazine, this park will be expanded in 2019. There will also be a new dolphin show.
The Dolfinarium does not provide the number of visitors. Van de Hoef says it's "absurd and pointless" to publish these numbers because competitors often cheat with them.
