An average Dutch family goes on holiday to a French campsite, a Spanish cottage or a Turkish all-inclusive resort. Never seen a smartphone move closer and move on the back of a donkey, they can not hear as well.

The reality show "Cultural Shock & # 39; change all that! Typical Dutch families travel the world and get to know all kinds of new cultures, rituals and customs – by leaving the premises for a week. How is real life in the places they visit? The "culture shock" is visible on SBS6 in 2019.

In "Cultuurshock", various average Dutch families have the opportunity to explore the world. In each episode, there is a family guest with a family or group belonging to a totally foreign culture and environment: from a shantytown in Delhi to an agricultural hamlet in the rugged Kazakhstan plains and d & # 39; an Eskimo community from Greenland to a strictly religious village in East Groningen – there is still a lot to discover in the Netherlands!

For a week, Dutch families are locals: they do everything the host family does. They sleep at home, dress as they dress and of course eat what the pot buys. And of course, guests accompany their host families to all activities scheduled for this week. It can be a wedding, a funeral, a religious holiday, but they also participate in the local sport and learn the dishes they eat themselves. And the children? They go to school, where it probably goes very differently from what they are used to!

Families who undergo cultural baptism are amazed at what happens to them in this strange environment. They are shocked, shuddered and amazed, but they adapt to the best. No dusted sandwiches, not always a hot shower … and how to keep him as a Dutch teenager a full week without adequate internet connection?

The "culture shock" was developed by Talpa Content and is produced by Talpa Producties.

will be broadcast on SBS6 in 2019.
