Filled dunes and grandstands, beautiful summer weather and exciting races: all the ingredients that were present made the race weekend of the German DTM touring car series Circuit Zandvoort a resounding success. At Audi too, it was a successful event, as with his victory in Sunday's race, defending champion Ren Rast is busy with Audi's first win of the season. For the Dutch driver Audi Robin Frijns, it was a weekend of extremes: Saturday, he achieved his best ranking in qualifying and race, but on Sunday, an electronic problem broke his ambitions.

In addition, the DTM Dutch weekend for Frijns had started so well. In fifth place in the second free practice followed the seventh position by qualifying for the first race. For Frijns, it was his best qualifying result in the DTM so far. In the race, where a safety car phase had a big effect on the race, the talented Limburg made good progress and finished fifth. However, it took a different turn on Sunday. Already in the morning free practice, Frijns Audi was found stuck after a U-turn due to electronic problems, and in qualifying, these problems also bothered him. Frijns had to leave from behind, but even in the race, his car stopped prematurely. He did not do anything after ten rounds. Very bad, I had really hoped for more, according to Frijns.

For the good mood in the Audi camp, Ren Rast, who provided both for him and for Audi, the first DTM victory of the season. On Saturday, Rast opted for a bold strategy by entering mandatory refueling with a tire change at a late stage, but because of a safety-car intervention, he did not have the chance to d & rsquo; A good ranking. On Sunday, Rast was already stopped in the game at the end of the first round, and then continued for a long time. He stayed ahead of the competition after all the refuelings and led the victory home. A huge relief that she finally succeeded.
