MENLO PARK (ANP / BLOOMBERG) – Facebook investigates the trade and market of the American data analysis company Crimson Hexagon with which it cooperates. Reason are allegations of unauthorized use of the data by the Boston-based company.
Facebook has confirmed after reporting by the US newspaper Wall Street Journal that an investigation is underway and that the company continues this search can not see data from Facebook and Instagram affiliate. Crimson Hexagon has found no evidence of unacceptable actions at the moment
Companies that use Facebook's data are bound by rules about what they do with them and with whom they share Datas. Crimson Hexagon has worked in recent years for a Russian non-profit organization with ties to the Kremlin. In addition to the Russian link, the data company also analyzed the data of Facebook users for various parts of the US government
Cambridge Analytica
The company itself says that it meets the conditions of all its partners. Facebook has not been put in memory either.
Facebook broke up early in the year after learning that the Cambridge Analytica data analysis company had stored the data of some 87 million Facebook users without knowing it. The data was used, among other things, for Donald Trump's election campaign.
Cambridge Analytica was fired and Facebook refined its privacy policy in the later period.
