For the first time in years, exports of Dutch products to China have declined. The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) has calculated that in the first eight months of this year, the Netherlands exported to China 15 percent less goods from their own manufacturing, compared to the same period last year.

This year a volume of nearly 4.8 billion euros. This represents 860 million euros less compared to the same period in 2017.

Part of the decrease can be explained by the fact that China has imposed a ban on the importation of various types of waste. Exports of industrial waste to China are therefore 60% lower than last year.

Fewer machines in China

It is striking that exports of specialized machinery have also dropped considerably, by 40%. These are mainly machines that can be used in the production process.

According to a spokesman for Statistics Netherlands, it is too early to say that it is a trend. It can also be a temporary decline after a large number of assignments in previous years. Statistics Netherlands can not say whether the trade war between the United States and China is a determining factor or not.

Baby milk powder

Baby milk powder is the main export product of China. In the first eight months, nearly 700 million euros of baby milk powder were exported to China, 16% more than a year earlier. ] [ad_2]
