Frits van Oostrom wins the Libris History Award

Neerlandicus Frits van Oostrom won the 2018 Libris History Prize for his book Nobel Suction on the knight Jan van Brederode. He wins an amount of 20,000 euros.

Van Oostrom received Sunday the Jury President Jeroen Dijsselbloem award, during a live broadcast of the OVT radio show on NPO radio 1. The jury states that Van Oostrom in the Middle Ages

NRC Editor-in-Chief Bas Blokker wrote a year ago after an interview with Van Oostrom about Nobel aspiration :

"As a detective Van Oostrom reconstructs Brederode's life in a strict chronology. From his date of birth, which must be around 1372, until his death on October 25, 1415 on the battlefield of Azincourt, one of the weak points of the Hundred Years War.

AKO Prize and Spinoza Prize

Frits van Oostrom (1953) is a professor in Utrecht, specializing in Dutch literature at Middle Ages

For his scientific work, he received the Spinoza Prize in 1995. His book Maerlants World won the AKO Literature Prize in 1996.
