GM cuts thousands of jobs in North America

US automaker General Motors (GM) wants to cut 14,700 jobs in the United States and Canada next year. In addition, deficit models are being phased out, possibly closing three factories in the states of Michigan and Ohio and Ontario, Ontario. In addition, it is planned to close the doors of two factories elsewhere in the world by the end of next year.

Most of the expected job loss (8,100 jobs) is administrative. The board wants to cut a quarter of management positions. United Unions United auto workers are unhappy. They declare in a statement that they will fight "in any possible legal, contractual and collective bargaining mode".
