Harvey Weinstein's legal team is soon to sit down with the lawyers of a number of women accusing him of abuse. He wants to offer them financial compensation.
Weinstein thus tries to prevent women from bringing him to justice in a civil lawsuit, according to the Wall Street Journal.
There would be a mediation scheduled in New York in November to discuss 12 more cases. There are also charges that have not been discussed in the media yet.
Weinstein is accused by dozens of women of unacceptable behavior, ranging from intimidation to rape.
The issues that will be debated during mediation include Weinsteins. former assistant, who claims to have been forced to clean the seed of the producer after his escapades. The attorneys of British actress Kadian Noble and producer Alexandra Canosa would also be present at the negotiations.
One Hundred Million
According to the newspaper, the amounts evoked by both parties are still far apart one from the other. The intention is to have a fund for victims where their lawyers want to see more than one hundred million dollars. The Weinstein team, consisting of lawyers and insurers, would bet on a much lower amount.
The results of the talks do not affect the criminal proceedings against the former film producer.
