MediaMonks remains independent after the takeover and acquires a 25% stake in S4 Capital. The headquarters will also remain in Hilversum
Started in a basement
MediaMonks was born in 2001 in a basement in Hilversum. Co-founder Victor Knaap: "We wanted to make beautiful movies online, but also the websites in which they find themselves. We combine directors and nerds. "
This combination of technology and creativity is the hallmark of MediaMonks. It now has eleven branches in cities such as London, Los Angeles, Sao Paolo and Shanghai and has more than 700 employees.
Through this merger, MediaMonks mentions the agreement and gets more financial space. The digital production agency wants to open new offices in South Africa, India and Germany
Investor challenged
The 73-year-old Sorrell investor is well known in the advertising world. He has been at the helm of WPP for over thirty years. This grew under his leadership at a company with hundreds of advertising agencies. But in April he had to leave after allegations of abuse and misconduct.
One salient detail is that his former WPP company was also interested in a takeover of MediaMonks.
Topman Victor Knaap of MediaMonks does not deny that he WPP spoke, but "I've literally talked to all the advertising agencies lately". Knaap: "We have had a lot of business in recent months but this deal has given us a lot of freedom."
According to Knaap, Sorrell's conflict with WPP is his business.
