Danish game developer IO Interactive, known from the Hitman series, opens a second studio in Malmö, Sweden. The location in Malmo is now used. We still do not know exactly which projects will start.

Hakan Abrak, President and CEO of IDE, announces the opening of the new site via the IOI website. According to Abrak, the studio will contribute to the development of new content for the Hitman franchise. The Managing Director also discusses the possibilities of creating "new franchises"

In recent years, IO Interactive has mainly focused on the Hitman series. On November 14, 2018, Hitman 2 was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows. Tweakers wrote a review of Hitman 2 and assigned a game rating of 8.5 to the game. The latest developer game that had nothing to do with the Hitman franchise was Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days from 2010

Until May 2017, IOI was part of Square Enix. After losing 39.4 million euros during the fiscal year ended March 31, 2017, the game publisher felt compelled to sell IO Interactive. A month later, IOI announced its creation as an independent studio following a buyout by management .
