Residential properties are again more expensive than ever. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) and the land register, house prices in June exceeded the peak reached in May. During the last quarter, the number of sales declined almost everywhere in the Netherlands. Especially in the four largest cities, the shortage in the housing market has increased. The number of sales in Rotterdam, Utrecht, The Hague and Amsterdam dropped by 13 to 16 percent compared to the second quarter of 2017. House prices in these cities have increased from 12 to 14 percent in one year.
North Holland is no longer the province in recent months with the highest average price increase. The honor came to Flevoland in the second quarter, where homes grew an average of 11.6% on an annual basis.
Apartment prices have risen sharply for all types of homes. In the second quarter, it is an increase of more than 13% on an annual basis, largely caused by the shortage in the market. Single-detached houses were on average 7% more expensive, with which they recorded the smallest increase.
