Huawei's new flagship product can count on better performance than the early-year model.
Huawei is no longer the economic brand offering solid smartphones at an unbeatable price. No, the Chinese brand has recently released many high-end products.
Now, before you start, the P20 Pro is of course slightly older than the Mate 20 Pro. The first was released earlier this year and the Mate 20 Pro will be out in two weeks. In short, a year for Huawei to develop even better components, software and other systems.
The very successful device of the beginning of the year, with its Kirin 970 with a processing power of 2.36 GHz, is in competition with a slightly higher Kirin 980, with the same computing capacity. In addition, the cameras, the 6 GB RAM, the storage space and (approximately) the size of the battery are almost the same
In short, a relatively fair battle between the flagship of the beginning of the year and its spiritual replacement. Oh, and the price at launch was also the same, about 100 dollars.
Conclusion? Both devices work almost as fast. On the other hand, the Mate 20 Pro's built-in fingerprint reader is slightly slower than the P20 Pro's "old-fashioned" dedicated scanner. In any case, it is much safer than the facial recognition of the Mate 20.
The speed of calculation and the amount of RAM of the devices also offer very comparable performances. However, halfway through the test, it goes a bit bad for the P20 Pro. Loading a specific game took about 30 seconds longer than with the Mate 20 Pro. Finally, the P20 Pro loses it when loading the game Asphlat 9.
Now, a number of items should slightly differentiate the test result. First, the tester chose to test both devices almost in the empty state. The reason he did not charge the smartphones first (which was so hammered with Huawei's fast charging system) is mysterious.
In addition, the Mate 20 Pro is not yet officially released and so it is testing a device with software in draft. It is therefore likely that updates will be provided to Huawei's latest device before / just after launch, which may affect performance.
