Italian authorities have collected 450 migrants aboard a wooden fishing boat on the island of Linosa. Eight of them – women and children – were transported to a hospital in the neighboring island of Lampedusa

The others are now on an Italian Coast Guard ship and a ship of the same name. European agency Frontex. We still do not know where they are going. Italy refuses to accept them.

According to Italy, migrants who had left Libya first crossed the waters of Malta. This country must welcome them, said Minister Salvini of the anti-immigration party Lega. But Malta says the fishing boat was heading for Lampedusa and that Italy was to save the passengers

The stalemate

The stalemate is similar to that of last month when both countries refused to receive the Aquarius rescue ship with more than 600 passengers. This ship eventually arrives in Spain

On Thursday, a ship of the Italian Coast Guard with 67 migrants moored in the port of Trapani, Sicily. Minister Salvini first wanted to keep the migrants on board the ship, but eventually they were transferred to a shelter.
