JSF probably cheaper after the mega-order of the United States

The JSF should be slightly cheaper now that the United States has ordered 141. The Netherlands has ordered 37, but they are only 34.

The US agreement 141 F-35, for $ 13 billion, reduces the price to approximately $ 89 million. This means a decrease of about 6%. By 2020, the price must have dropped to $ 80 million per jet.

Price tag of this moment

Reducing the cost of the world's most expensive defense program is needed to get more orders. The Netherlands orders JSFs in groups, and each time the price of that moment has to be paid. This also applies to other countries. Due to the mega-sales of Americans, production costs are falling.

US President Donald Trump and other US officials have already criticized the F-35 program for delays and cost overruns. The price per jet fighter has been steadily declining in recent years, as production increased, but it had increased dramatically in previous years.

Replaced obsolete F-16

When the Netherlands was speaking for the first time at the end of the last century on fighter planes that were to replace the old F-16, 35 million euros were still discussed by plane. Last year, it became clear that because of the high rate of the dollar, the Netherlands seemed to pay only 34 instead of 37.

The Army of the United States. Dutch air currently has 61 F-16 jet fighters. Thirty years ago, there were more than 200.
