The foursome was arrested on Monday, August 27, after police followed a cocaine container from the port of Antwerp to a company in Oosterhout. The drugs, which were hidden under a load of bananas, were intercepted by Belgian Customs in Antwerp
Police arrested the suspects, three men and a woman, when they wanted to unload the cargo in a hangar. The drug had already been removed from the container and destroyed.
A 55-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman are now believed to be involved in the importation of a cargo of 7,000 kilos of cocaine. This cargo was also intercepted in Antwerp at the end of 2017. This cargo was also concealed under a banana load and was destined for a Dutch consignee.
At the time, no suspects were arrested, but an investigation was initiated. The suspects must first appear in Rotterdam court on Thursday 22 November. This is not yet a background treatment.
