Earlier in the day, three people were injured in the Israeli town of Sderot when missiles were fired from the Gaza Strip. The air alarm has started in the city of Ashkelon. The Israeli airstrikes have been the worst since the 2014 war. Israeli newspaper Haaretz reports that the Israeli army has shot more than 40 Hamas targets in the past 24 hours and that more than 190 missiles have been fired from the Gaza Strip during the same period. According to the AP news agency, Israel said the attacks were targeting military targets and they aim to prevent Palestinians from entering certain areas. According to Haaretz, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu says Israel will extend its response to missile attacks as much as necessary. "If Hamas does not understand the message today, they will understand it tomorrow."
