The victims of the air disaster in Indonesia will be searched for at least three days. Searches have been extended by the authorities. The Boeing 737 Max 8 from Lion Air sank in the sea on Monday; 189 passengers were killed

Rare sounds

Up to now, only seven victims have been identified. Indonesia hopes that with the new search, more casualties will be found and that the second black box containing recordings of conversations in the cockpit will also appear. CNN however, writes that the signal from the black box no longer sounds. Unlike Saturday, there is no more "ping" to hear.

The other black box has already been found and the recorded flight data has been successfully downloaded from the partially damaged flight data recorder. At the moment, the cause of the accident is not clear, but it is hoped that further research into the flight data will change that. The survey starts on Monday.

Shortly after takeoff, Lion Air's almost new aircraft crashed into the Java Sea. The plane had had technical problems during a previous flight. There was therefore "strange noises" to hear and the passengers were worried about the problems of air conditioning and cabin lighting. The plane left three hours later than expected, or the technical problems mentioned are not known.
