Make firearms with the 3D printer? This is allowed again in the United States

One press of the button and your 3D printer goes to work. According to a free data file downloaded, the printer produces a firearm that really works in without time . The technology has been around for years, but since 2013, downloading of design data has been banned by the US government. Starting tomorrow, it is still possible.

The Washington Department of Justice admitted after years of legal battle that the ban is in violation of the US Constitution. Distributed Defense, Texas' open-source organization that commercialized the 3D printed weapon, had argued that the ban violated the right to freedom of expression and the right to own weapons fire. The Ministry decided last month that August 1 data files could be put back online

Self-Generating Weapons

The weapons that come from the 3D printer are made in the same plastic as the parts lego. No metal is required in the latest designs, although most 3D printed firearms still contain a metal striker. Because they are printed at home, consumers can make functional guns without being controlled and completely out of the sight or control of the government.

This is precisely the goal of Cody Wilson, the man behind Distributed Defense and the inventor of the 3D Printed Firearm. In several interviews in 2013, he told the American press that it was a "symbolic political act" to show that the government could not prevent citizens from producing weapons themselves.
