Mayor Halsema tapped his fingers to ban the Inner burqa

Minister Ollongren (Home Affairs) calls "premature" the fact that mayors are already making statements on the ban, while discussions on the enforcement of the law continue. These discussions take place with sectors where the ban on clothing covering the face will be in effect. This applies to government buildings, care facilities, public transit and schools.

The Minister of the D66 informs the House of Representatives of these discussions. Laws such as the burqa ban will come into force at a fixed time. The Ministry of the Interior had previously told De Telegraaf that the law came into effect on July 1

. Halsema was also bewildered by the VVD Secretary of State, Visser (Defense). It does not accept that a national law is not applied anywhere in the Netherlands. Visser said that "no one is above the law". "Not even the mayor of Amsterdam."
