Microsoft is offering a free version of the Teams online chat platform where a paid Office 365 subscription is no longer needed. This version is now available and offers many options compared to Slack.
Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams exists since 2016 but only for fee-paying users of Office 365. Meanwhile, competitor Slack has been operating in this market for longer and also offers a free version of their service. Both communication tools are mainly used in the workplace and in associations. Communication via channels makes messengers and emails largely redundant. In addition, colleagues can access applications and files through these tools and there is integration with various Web services such as Trello and Google Drive. Microsoft now offers users a free version by offering a free version.
Teams versus Slack
Microsoft teams can now only be used with an e-mail address. The number of options is limited in the free version. For example, up to 300 users can be added to a group, which is usually sufficient for small and medium businesses. These users can send as many messages as they want between them. These messages remain visible and therefore searchable. The free version of Slack only offers it for the last 10,000 messages and believe us, that's what you do.
Microsoft Teams also offers the opportunity to let people communicate from outside in teams and can be helpful for trainees or ZZP's. Private channels in Teams are still missing and Slack marks another point here.
