Cobalt was stolen for at least seven million euros in the port of Rotterdam. This is a lot of 114 tons. Cobalt is a rare raw material used for batteries in electric cars and tablets.

The thieves hit a secure warehouse of the Vollers group in the Waalhaven. The Minor Metals Trade Association which monitors the world's specialty metals trade, reports that the robbery must have occurred somewhere between July 5th and 9th. The flight is confirmed by the Rotterdam police and the company.

Cobalt is considered the new gold: the raw material is crucial for the production of batteries for telephones, tablets and electric cars. The price has quadrupled in the last two years.
