German Beate Zschäpe of the neo-Nazi terrorist group Nationalsozialistischer Untergrund (NSU) was sentenced to life imprisonment. It was the Munich court today. Zschäpe was found guilty of co-perpetrating ten murders. At that time, she worked with Uwe Mundlos and Uwe Böhnhardt, who are no longer living together.
Döner-murders
She maintained emotions between 2000 and 2007. Ten middle classes, mostly Turkish-German, were in those days found dead. This concerns nine migrants and one policewoman. The murders took place all over Germany. Because in many cases it was about restaurant owners, the series originally called for the Döner murders. However, the public prosecutor quickly spoke of terror when the scope of the case became clear
The police did not follow the NSU until 2011 after a bank robbery in Eisenach. Both NSU members Uwe Mundlos and Uwe Böhnhardt were arrested shortly thereafter. They committed suicide, however. In the caravan that they had with them, the police found a vast arsenal of weapons, including the service weapon of the agent killed in 2007.
Zschäpe gave himself a few days later. In the ensuing investigation, the connection between the series of cold-blooded murders was shown. The trio was also behind some other robberies and bombings.
Although there is no evidence that Zschäpe was actually on one of the crime scenes, she played an important role in the trio according to justice. She "knew everything, endorsed everything and directed in her own way and cooperated".
Higher Appeal
The Zschäpe defense dropped the appeal shortly after the decision. His lawyer finds the statement insufficiently substantiated, he told the German media. It is highly unlikely that she will be released sooner. This is only if there is an extreme case like the illness that such a thing could happen.
