NS security employees get dutch bodycam – Image and sound – News

The security employees of the Dutch NS Railway Company all get a bodycam from the Dutch Zepcam. That's what the company has announced. Employees can turn on the camera if they think they are in a situation where it is necessary.

NS says cameras will record sound and images. Eighty employees did a test with bodycams for six months, and several models were tried. According to the Dutch Railways, they paid particular attention to wearing comfort and ease of use.

The NS will use the Zepcam T2, a video camera from a Dutch company from Zaltbommel. It is a 115 gram camera with a 72x56x24mm case and the case has an IP65 rating and is therefore dustproof and water-proof.

The camera has a 140-degree viewing angle and can make videos in full-hd mp4 format with 30fps. You can take photos with up to 6048×4032 pixels. The camera has an infrared function for shooting in the dark. The 3200 mAh battery should provide a seven hour battery life, while it can be idle for nine hours.

According to the railway company, camcorders have a de-escalating effect and a preventive effect also occurs. The carrier has not released any figures on the effect of cameras in the test. However, NS says that 75 percent of travelers are for bodycams.

Camera images could be used by the police and the courts to prosecute people who commit offenses on public transport, such as the use of force.
