Seven in ten employees, on the one hand, sometimes or even never worked. That's what Statistics Netherlands (CBS) said in response to the Labor Force Survey (EBB) among employees aged 15 to 75 years old.
Those with a service occupation, such as catering staff and cleaners, work the least often. Of all respondents, 34% said they would never work overtime in 2017. Among women, the group was slightly larger (37%) than men (31%).
Among regularly overworked workers, men are slightly more successful (32%) than women (26%). An equal number of men and women work sometimes.
Six Hours Overtime
People who work more often at the sea do it on average six hours a week. This is longer than the average of employees who only occasionally work overtime, or three hours a week.
Statistics Netherlands makes no distinction between paid and unpaid overtime.
Employees with full-time employment rather more often (38%) than part-time workers (21%). Among people with full-time jobs, men and women often work too.
There is a difference between part-time workers: women (23%) make more hours than men (17%)

Young people (aged 15 to 25) and older people (aged 65 to 75) work with 16% and 15% respectively. In the youth group, it is because respondents continue their education and hold a part-time job for a small number of hours. Overtime is not very common here
Overtime is more common in the 25 to 35 age group, where 35% regularly work overtime.
The level of education also has an influence. For example, highly educated people are often longer than expected (40%). Twenty-six percent of those with a high school education report regularly. In the case of the less educated, this represents 18%.
