The man was wanted because of a robbery at a restaurant in Blackpool. After several hours of publishing the photo on social media and thousands of responses received, the Blackpool police also responded. The latter stated that it had been confirmed that Schwimmer was not in the UK at the time of the flight.

The alleged criminal activities of his best-known character have also reached Schwimmer. He responded the day after the broadcast of the survey message with a playful video. This showed how Schwimmer was holding an alcohol box in a supermarket just like the thief in the photo scattered by the police. "Agents, I swear I was not," wrote Schwimmer with the pictures.
