preview of Porsche's 70th anniversary at RM Sotheby's

RM Sotheby's auction house celebrates Porsche's 70th anniversary to hold an auction in which all of the brand's history goes under the hammer. Under the automobilia are beautiful books, workshop manuals, posters, and so on. As for cars, the auction house has a lot of fun in the catalog.

Model

First, take a look at the automobilia and I will not list all the books, posters and other flying accessories of Porsche, but I would like to put a model kit of motor Carrera RS 2.7. just in the spotlight. It is a 1: 8 scale model of the Porsche 2.7 engine manufactured by the Japanese company Marushin-Industry. All the pieces are metal and everything moves. I do not think there is much, because there is not much information about it. The kit is offered at low prices, but the expected return is not smooth with around $ 7 to $ 9,000.

History of the race

When it comes to cars, we go back to the history of the Porsche race with beautiful classics. My wish list, but given the prices, as far as I'm concerned, it will remain so. Two Carrera RSR, a 2.8 on 1973 and a 3.0 on 1975. The 2.8 RSR chassis, chassis 9113600756, after being removed from the belt, headed to America. The Porsche raced on US soil within 12 hours of Sebring and 6 hours on Watkins Glenn and has battled with Brumos RSR's Hurley Haywood and Peter Gregg for podiums. The 3.0 RSR remained in Europe and was used by Tebernum Racing with the help of Porsche for the World Sportscar Championship and the European GT Championship. RSRs performed well in GT at the time. Despite the fact that Georg Loos' Gelo Racing with Manfred Schurti, Toine Hezemans and John Fitzpatrick were the team to beat, Tebernum had managed to win the championship in 1975. Price tags for these two historic runners; $ 2.4 to $ 2.9 million for $ 2.8 and $ 2.2 million for 3.0 RSRs.

Seinfeld

A 997 GT3 RS 4.0 is also prominently featured on many wish lists, but an exaggerated price ranging from $ 800,000 to $ 1 million seems a little overrated. The actor Jerry Seinfeld, a fanatic of Porsche, ordered this RS and Mr. Seinfeld decided, with Porsche Exclusive, to deviate from the GT3 RS 4.0 "standard". Striking, the interior, usually richly equipped with Alcantara, is now leather that predominates. The list of options was then checked and, in my opinion, the carbon fiber boot lid with the signatures on the bottom of it, Hans Mezger himself, Andreas Preuninger and the head of the Porsche Exclusive department. But the question is whether it's worth hundreds of thousands of dollars more than the current price of a GT3 RS 4.0.

Prototype Carrera RS 2.7

The year 1973 is one of the highlights of the history of the brand. The Porsche 911 was in full development and perfected that year. The Carrera RS has made its appearance and has become an icon. Previously, some prototypes had been built and the second prototype, chassis 9113600012, went under the hammer in Atlanta. The absence of "ducktail" is striking. The first four prototypes were based on the 911 S and upgraded to the SAR specifications. 0012 was presented to the Austrian Helmuth pilot Koinigg who raced with Porsche at Le Mans in 1974. The Porsche then passed into the hands of another owner but remained in Austria until 1985. Then came two German owners before going into the hands of an American collector. Restored and the car returned in 2008 in Austria and is now in possession of a German collector. Price tag for this piece of history; $ 1.25 to $ 1.5 million
