Primary school principals also want more pay and go on campaign

Elementary school principals will campaign for themselves after the summer. They are dissatisfied with the outcome of salary negotiations for teachers. For example, in the new CAO, the highest paid teachers earn more than most assistant principals.

"It is now time to defend oneself," says Petra van Haren of the General Association of School Executives. "Until now, we have mainly supported teachers and, starting in September, we will take action for our own salary."

Last month, joy in teachers' rooms was great. 5% and receive a bonus of almost half a month salary. But not everyone has emerged from the flag. Directors, caretakers, classroom assistants, speech therapists and school psychologists must do much less: 2.5% extra pay and no substantial bonus.

Kindergarten teacher

For Gerry Baarsma, 60, the collective agreement is a big disappointment. For 40 years, she has been working as a kindergarten teacher in the Limburg village of Linne. She has taken two courses during her spare time in the last four years, so she can officially start working as an assistant principal at her elementary school starting this summer. But even though she has worked as an assistant director a few days a week, she no longer considers the possibility of being an official member of parliament.
