Resident Evil 2 returns in the best way to his horror roots

Of all the phases that Resident Evil went through. I think that one of the three originals is the coolest. The old feeling, the fixed position of the camera and the wooden direction speak to me the most. After that, the game has grown enormously with the camera of part 4, 5 and 6 and the first person of Resident Evil 7.

Yet, the cautious scenes, deliberately framed and the importance of plan routes and manage your inventory. The instinct of your environment, the productive back-tracking and the crazy riddles have made a normal police station a gothic castle feel. During the 30-minute demo, the Resident Evil 2 remake – officially Resident Evil 2 – managed to mix these old school elements with modern elements. Until now, it looks very good and feels at least as good.

Until now, Resident Evil 2 felt loving and faithful to the original.

My part of the Resident Evil 2 demo was part of the road Leon traveled. It began that the rookie arrived at the Raccoon City Police Station. The RPD HQ is just as dark as in the original. Dark, narrow corridors lead to the main rooms. There is the recognizable marble statue. The darkness and the architecture mean that there is always a sense of pressure. As far as I can see the map, it was the same as the original and that is why the game looks like a magnet and faithful remake.

The return of the puzzles is the most interesting for me. Resident Evil 7 has done something in this area, but this game has been a long time for the riddles of previous games. I do not want funny puzzles, I want every coin, every locket and every box give me clues. I want to find switches among the paintings and move statues. Resident Evil does just that and it makes me very happy. In the short demo I was busy with objects, unique tracks and crazy symbols to line up to find an important object. I have met many elements of the original. The most famous were the Spade Key and the Unicorn Medal. Not everything is an exact copy of the original, and that 's fine. This keeps the game sensational and fans of the original will be familiar with the environment.

Resident Evil 2 takes the core of the original and makes it good in a good way.

When you remove the excellent graphics from the game, the most deviant of the remake is the fight. The old controls are gone and we have a camera on the shoulder. This update can guarantee that iconic moments do not meet as well as in the original. Yet, unexpected moments are still possible in this game. Zombies go through windows and doors without you seeing them and they come from all sides. It meant that I had to turn around quickly and that the small radius of my flashlight was looking for enemies. A combination of small ammo, claustrophobic environments and zombies that need somewhere between four and eight shots, the action moments are skillfully done. Each shot leaves a dirty wound with the zombies. I've tried successfully to shoot the legs of a zombie and kill him with my knife. Unfortunately, I did not see any Lickers in my demo. It only gives me something to hope for more. But it seems that January is still very far

If the short demo is an indication of what we will see in the rest of the game, then everything will be fine. He takes the core of the original and brings it to the present. He does it the right way for old and new fans. I really can not wait to see more.

Resident Evil 2 can now be pre-ordered for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
