Music and theater lovers had a great time this weekend in Rotterdam. Thanks to the weather, many visitors came to the Metropolis musical event and the Parade theater festival.

This was a special edition for the Metropolis Festival. The 30th anniversary of the free event was celebrated in the Zuiderpark.

Groups such as The Prodigy, The Killers, Smashing Pumpkins and The Strokes performed here for their breakthrough in the mainstream. This year again, many promising bands such as Alice Merton, Leafs, Little Biscuit and Tamino gave many performances

Sun and Relaxed Atmosphere

"I came here a year or three or four years ago. Today, a regular visitor is pleasant about a friend that he has brought for the first time.

Visitors are in agreement: the success of Metropolis consists of sunshine, beautiful music, nice people and a relaxed atmosphere. Everyone can do their own thing.

"And it's free, it helps too," says one of the participants. A local resident also comes, despite the fact that most shows are not his music. "Roll twice and I'm here."

Itinerant Festival

The Rotterdam Museum Park last week was the scene of the parade. Among others, Jules Deelder, Hadewych Minis and the man behind the Lucky TV videos, Sander van de Pavert, gave a number.

De Parade had his last day in Rotterdam on Sunday. The traveling theater festival will travel through The Hague, Utrecht and Amsterdam in the coming weeks.

It is not yet known how many people went to the Parade and the Metropolis Festival. The organization of Metropolis counts in any case about 30 000 visitors.
