In a press release, Samsung Display introduced a new flexible and "unbreakable" OLED display. Flexible displays have been available for some time for smartphones, but in practice there is little flexibility if there is a layer of protective glass on them. However, the new Samsung OLED display is equipped with a soft plastic layer with protective glass properties, so that flexibility can be maintained.
The flexible OLED screen is certified by Underwriters Laboratories, who have done a number of extensive tests to test the rigidity of the screen. They dropped the screen 26 times from a height of 1.2 meters and exposed it to high and low temperatures of 71 and -32 degrees Celsius, respectively. In addition, a fall of 1.8 meters passed in front of the screen without any crack.
