Samsung runs on an Android Go device with a custom interface

Some photos have surfaced from a Samsung Android Go smartphone that does not run on Android. It would be the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core that we have already met in the circuit of the rumor.

Android Go is a light version of Android and therefore optimized for devices from 512 MB to 1 GB of RAM. Android Go should be able to function properly and stay up to date, especially on less powerful devices. This task had first taken on Android One, but it was pushed more to the middle class. In December, this edition was deployed as part of Android 8.1 Oreo. Android Go also offers special applications such as Maps Go, Gmail Go and Google Assistant Go. In addition, more data is saved by these applications, so you spend less on a data plan.

Earlier, we wrote about the possible existence of the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core. This device surfaced with the SM-J260G type number and would work on Android Oreo Go. The Core J2 would have been tested in India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, but later it was It turned out that Samsung would be tested worldwide in dozens of countries. This shows that Samsung does not focus only on "emerging countries" with this device but that it has more ambitious projects.

SamMobile now has pictures in which we could see the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core are. The images clearly show that this device runs on the Go edition of Android 8.1 Oreo. The well-known Samsung experience interface is also present with a number of Go-apps such as Google Go, Go Maps and YouTube Go.

Up to now We are used to Android Go devices with a current Android experience like the Nokia 1, but unlike Android One, the manufacturer can adjust the interface. We assume that in this case Samsung has slightly modified the hull to meet the lower specifications.

Availability

There is nothing clear about the availability of this Samsung Android Go smartphone, as it went to the Benelux. In any case, it is interesting to see that a big brand like Samsung can also target Android Oreo Go.
