"Second wave of national heat to come"

This week, we may be facing a second wave of national heat. At the moment, temperatures remain above 25 degrees and at the end of the week thirty degrees are forecast.

In De Bilt, the temperature has already been measured for more than three days above 25 degrees, of which one day exceeds 30 degrees. If there are still two days above 30 degrees in the Bilt, there is talk of a rural heat wave.

The heat wave is still on

The previous heat wave ended three days ago. On Saturday, the heat wave, which began on July 26, was officially over. It was remarkable that De Bilt was the only weather station in the interior that did not reach 25 degrees that day. This means that the first wave of heat continues in large parts of the country. In areas such as North Brabant, Limburg, Overijssel and Gelderland, the heat wave is still in progress. "There is a good chance we will have the longest heat wave of this year," says meteorologist Maarten Stam against RTL Nieuws

It is quite exceptional that there are several waves of heat in the Netherlands. For the heat wave last week, the last one was already three years ago. This lasted from June 30 to July 5 and was 33.1 degrees as the maximum temperature. Only in 1941 and 2006, there were two heat waves a year.
